How to Shop for Shapewear

The process of buying shapewear can be a little confusing, so we provided some tips to address the questions you may have.

Does shapewear conflict with body positivity?

Since its inceptions, modern shapewear has served as a quick fix to help women appear to have the ideal shape.

This may cause people to wonder, can consumers buy and wear shapewear without perpetuating unrealistic beauty standards?

At Body Beautiful Shapewear we encourage people to love their bodies and want women to have the confidence they need to succeed in life with or without shapewear!

You can love your body and still prefer to present it in a certain way. Using shapewear does not mean you hate your body the same way applying makeup does not mean you hate your face. If you like the way it makes you look and feel, and you want to wear it, go for it!

Shapewear based on body type

Every woman has a unique figure with different problems that need to be addressed when it comes to choosing the right shapewear. Below we listed some body types and potential shapewear solutions you can use to achieve your desired silhouette.

Hourglass

Your buttocks and bust line are well-balanced, and the waist is also defined. Your buttocks are round naturally, and your body is in proportion throughout. You have slightly rounded shoulders that align perfectly with your shapely buttocks, and your legs are in proportion with your upper body.

Solution

Draw attention to a small waist, accentuate it. Define the waist while proportionally dress the top and bottom of the body.

Apple

If your shoulders and bust are larger than your relatively narrow hips, you have what’s known as an inverted triangle or “apple” shape.

Solution

Add volume to the lower half to balance mid-section. Draw attention away from the tummy to the best attributes (bust & legs).

Pear

With this shape, your shoulders and bust are narrower than your hips. You probably have slim arms and a fairly defined waist. Your waist most likely slopes out to your hips.

Solution

Add detailing and volume on top (minimal on bottom). Emphasize the waist, styles nipped at the waist. De-emphasize the lower body.
